2006 Jeep Commander Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Right-Hand Side Blend Door Actuator in a Dual Zone System on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Start by removing and isolating the negative battery cable to turn off the air bag system, then disconnect the air door actuator after two minutes of discharge. In left-hand drive models, take away the glove box from the instrument panel; in right-hand drive models, remove the driver side's instrument panel silencer. Following this, take out the screws keeping the blend door actuator on the right of the HVAC air distribution housing then remove the actuator and the wire harness connector from the housing. Always insert the new actuator into the vehicle, then secure it on the right side of the HVAC air distribution housing, making sure the splines on its output shaft line up with the splines on the blend door cam. Screw in the bolts to 2 N.m or 17 in. lbs., attach the HVAC harness to the connectors and assemble the glove box or instrument panel silencer as needed. After that, add the negative battery cable back into place.
