2006 Jeep Commander A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in Your System on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Begins by emptying the refrigerant from the A/C system and breaking the negative battery connection before handling the A/C accumulator. Take out the grille, air cleaner housing and air inlet tube. Then, use a fastener to take out the nut securing the A/C liquid line to the A/C accumulator, separate the A/C liquid line and get rid of the dual-plane seal. Unscrew the screw that holds the A/C accumulator to the radiator and fan shroud, along with the bolt in the A/C accumulator that holds it to the A/C condenser, remove the A/C condenser attachment and discard the dual-plane seal. Remember to slide a plug into the A/C accumulator fitting and connect the ports and then install tape or plugs over the condenser port. Once the A/C accumulator is changed, insert 30 milliliters of oil for the A/C system using only the type advised. Set the A/C accumulator inside the engine bay, remove any tape or plugs from each fitting and port and then the A/C condenser port. Clean the new dual-plane seal with refrigerant oil, then install it onto the A/C accumulator fitting, using only the special material seal supplied for R-134a systems. Reconnect the A/C accumulator to the appropriate end of the A/C condenser and secure it with the nut, tightening to 20 N.m. Fit the second screw to secure the A/C accumulator to the radiator and fan shroud, tightening it to 5 N.m. Apply clean refrigerant oil to another new dual-plane seal and install it onto the A/C liquid line. After that, tighten the nut securing the A/C liquid line to the A/C accumulator to 20 N.m. Fit the air cleaner housing and after connecting the negative battery cable, get rid of the existing refrigerant and put it back into the system.
