2006 Jeep Liberty Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: TPS is typically fixed to the throttle body when you buy a car. The first step is to remove the electrical connector, after which you must take off the two mounting bolts and pull out the TPS. To set up the throttle body, fit it so the throttle shaft rests in the socket of the TPS and allow it a little room to rotate, because the sensor should rotate with the throttle shaft; if it doesn't, fit the throttle the other way round. A small amount of stress will build up in the TPS when it is rotated. Put the TPS in place and install all the retaining screws, tightening them to a value of 7 N.m (60 in. lbs.) torque. Make sure the electrical connection between TPS and ECM is secure and then move the throttle by hand to ensure it doesn't stick. After that, attach the air cleaner tube to the throttle body.
