2006 Jeep Wrangler Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Evaporator for Optimal Performance on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should first get rid of the HVAC housing and take it apart enough to reach the A/C evaporator. Lift the A/C evaporator and insulator out of the bottom part of the HVAC housing. Should the insulator be deformed or damaged, remove both the grommet and insulator. Afterward, put in a new insulator. Be sure to add 1.5 fluid ounces or 45 milliliters of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system, using only the kind stated for use with the vehicle's compressor. If you have to remove the bulb, place the foam insulator over the A/C evaporator first and make sure it hasn't been damaged. Then, place the A/C evaporator into the bottom section of the HVAC housing, with the drain open and unmistakably free from obstruction and the foamboard and grommet both installed as needed. When all is finished and the fitting is secure, install the HVAC box.
