2006 Jeep Wrangler Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should disable the air bag system on cars with air bags by unattaching and isolating the negative battery cable, then wait a full two minutes so the air bag system capacitor discharges and so there is no danger of accidental air bag deployment. Start by putting the ignition key to the On setting and holding the A/C heater control at mid-temperature for 10 seconds. Remove the negative battery cable and now detach the wire harness from the blend door actuator at the bottom of the HVAC housing, right below the center of the instrument panel. Fix the three screws holding the actuator to the HVAC housing and remove the actuator. To install, put the new blend door actuator in the bottom of the HVAC housing, so that the actuator's output shaft points straight toward the blend door linkage if needed. Place and tighten the three screws on the actuator so that the amount of torque is 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Gently connect the two parts of the HVAC wire harness connector to the blend door actuator and screw on the negative battery cable.
