2005 Jeep Wrangler Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Remove a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is connected to the throttle body and can be removed by disconnecting its connector, removing the two screws holding it and then extracting it. When installing, slide the throttle shaft end of the throttle body into the TPS, so that the TPS can be somewhat rotated; if this does not happen, insert the sensor in the TPS with the throttle shaft end on the opposite side from the tangs. If you rotate the TPS, you will see little stress build up. Upon completion of installation and using the retaining screws, tighten them to 7 N.m (60 in.lbs.) torque and finally attach the TPS electrical connector. Before the engine is turned on, make sure the TPS isn't binding by moving the throttle manually and then add the air cleaner tube to the throttle body.
