2007 Dodge Dakota A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: What Steps Are Involved in Servicing an A/C Accumulator for Optimal Performance on 2007 Dodge Dakota?
A: During A/C refrigerant service, you should check and regulate the oil level to stop issues with the A/C compressor. Should the A/C compressor develop problems internally, the A/C accumulator must also be changed to minimize further complications. If you replace a number of A/C system parts, you should check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know how much oil to include. If just the A/C accumulator is changed, pour in 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of the recommended oil for refrigerant. Any time a refrigerant line is opened, remember to replace its O-ring seals and gaskets. Mount the accumulator bracket (4) onto its support (2) and tighten the holding brackets (3) to 4.5 Nm. Piece the A/C by placing accumulator (1) onto the mounting bracket and leave the bracket bolts (6) loose for now. Pull out all the tape and blocks from the refrigerant system's connections, apply clean R-134a oil to the new rubber O-ring seals and arrange them around the accumulator spring-lock coupler fitting as specified. Install the secondary retaining clip (3) on the spring-lock coupler, then connect this unit to the evaporator outlet tube (5). Pull the bracket bolts tight to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.) and then fasten the A/C suction line to the accumulator. Next, install the air filter housing and put the negative battery cable back. Drain the refrigerant system and, if the A/C accumulator is being replaced, add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil or use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for other replacements. After all that, add the refrigerant to the system.
