2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before servicing and repairing the heater core, drain the engine cooling system, remove the negative battery cable and wait two minutes to allow the air bag system capacitor to discharge. Keep the front of the instrument panel clean and safe from damage as you handle the car. When necessary, pull the hoses from the heater core tubes in the engine compartment and remove the instrument panel. Following, take out the five screws connected to the heater core and tube cover and take off the heater core and tube cover after that. In cases with dual zone heating-A/C, inspect and treat the blend door actuator inside the passenger side of the air distribution housing. Open the screw holding the heater core tubes and bracket to the HVAC housing. Always have some absorbent towels next to you when handling coolant. Fasten the bolt that connects the heater tubes to the heater core, remove the tubing and throw away the O-ring seals. You should either plug or tape shut the open heater core ports and then slowly remove the heater core from the HVAC air housing. In case it is required, take out the heater core tubes from the car.
