2008 Chrysler Pacifica A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How is an A/C Expansion Valve Installed in a Cooling System on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before installing the expansion valve, be sure the refrigerant oil level is set so that the A/c system and compressor won't be affected. When you replace several A/c parts at once, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to find the right oil amount. Remember to put on new O-ring seals and gaskets anywhere the refrigerant line is opened to stop leaks. Your first step is to remove all tape or blocks you find on the opened refrigerant line, evaporator tube fittings and expansion valve ports. Apply clean Frigid refrigerant oil to new rubber O-ring seals and install them on the R-134a refrigerant line and the evaporator tube fittings with only the designated rubber O-rings. Set up the A/c expansion valve on the evaporator tube tapping plate and bolster it in place by fastening two retainer bolts to 11 Nm. Link the liquid line and suction line of the A/c to the expansion valve and add a retaining nut, but tighten it only to 23 Nm. Screw a nut to the right front strut tower to secure the A/c liquid line and guarantee it is tight. Install both the air cleaner housing and the air inlet tube and next, reattach the negative battery cable. Remove all refrigerant from the lines, add or remove refrigerant oil if necessary and supply the refrigerant system with the right refrigerant.
