2007 Chrysler Pacifica A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is an A/C Expansion Valve Installed in a Cooling System on 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before you install the expansion valve, make sure the refrigerant oil level is set properly, to stop the AC from malfunctioning and to protect the compressor. Always use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine the oil amount for your mix when replacing several parts. Anytime a refrigerant line is unsealed, replace its seals and gaskets to avoid leaking. First, take away any tape or plugs from the line where refrigerant is released, the evaporator tube fittings and the expansion valve ports. Close the screw valves and then use clean R-134a refrigerant oil to lubricate new O-ring seals. After that, carefully set the seals on the refrigerant line and evaporator tube fittings and secure them with only the right O-rings designed for your R-134a system and the right oil for the vehicle's A/C compressor. Set the A/C expansion valve at the evaporator tube tapping plate and fix it using two bolts, turning them to a pressure of 11 Nm. Fit the A/C liquid line and A/C suction line to the expansion valve and tighten the retaining nut on it to 23 Nm. Place the nut from the A/C liquid's line onto the right front strut tower. Replace the housing for the air cleaner and then reattach the tube from the air inlet. Once that's done, connect the negative cable from the battery. Empty the refrigerant system, make sure enough oil is in the system and then fill the refrigerant.
