2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the A/C Accumulator on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, stop the flow of power through the battery and reclaim the refrigerant before you remove the HVAC accumulator. If you have a speed control servo, attach it close to the A/C accumulator (10). If your car's engine is a 2.4L Turbo, detach the purge solenoid from its bracket and set it aside somewhere else. Remove the connector (12) from between the A/C low pressure switch (6) and the A/C accumulator, then remove the switch. Lift out the nuts (3) holding the A/C suction (1) and liquid (2) lines to the accumulator tubes (4) and disconnect those lines. First, remove the bolts (5) joining the accumulator tubes to the A/C accumulator. Then, unfasten the two bolts (9) below, securing the accumulator tube block (4) to the evaporator tube tapping block (7) and remove the accumulator tubes. Hold the right frame rail (8) and, using the hook apparatus, disconnect the accumulator mounting bracket (11) from the rubber grommet (11). Throw out the O-ring seals and gaskets and either use plugs or cover the airlines and ports with tape. When using a 2.4L Turbo engine, take out the purge solenoid mounting bracket from the accumulator bracket.
