2008 Dodge Viper Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Brake Caliper on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: If your brakes have shoes, make sure they are in the caliper before putting it in place. After that, attach the brake caliper to the steering knuckle and hold it place with the bolts, tighten until it reaches 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). Always put new copper seal washers in place when joining the brake flex hose to the caliper. Before you tighten the banjo bolt, put copper seal washers on each end of the flex hose and insert the bolt through them and the fitting into the caliper's threaded port, tightening to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). After that, lift the wheel and tire assembly into place and tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Lower the auto and take out the brake pedal holding tool. Occasionally open your brake lines by bleeding brakes if needed and make sure to pump the brake several times to verify a firm brake pedal before moving the car. Do one more road test and stop a few times to allow the new brake shoes to work and the brakes to overcome any dirt.
