2008 Jeep Commander Door Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Door Hinge Without Taking the Door Off on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: It isn't necessary to take down the door for hinge replacement if done one side at a time and you should also apply a suitable sealing material when moving or removing the hinges. Open the front door and unconnect the wire connector that goes from the rear door to the main body wire harness. Using a grease pencil, indicate the spot for the rear door hinge on the B-pillar. Pull up on the rear door using a suitable device and unscrew the five bolts securing the hinges to the B-pillar. Open the rear door and lift it out from the car, setting it on a workbench. Then, mark the nearest points to the hinge screws on the door. You don't have to take off the washers; if you remove them, the door might need adjustment. After that, loosen the nuts holding the door hinges to the rear of the car and remove those hinges. If it's needed, remove any washers you see attached to the rear door hinges.
