2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the A/C Hose on 3.7L/4.7L Engines on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: On 3.7L/4.7L engines, it is important to adjust the refrigerant oil level first, as not having the proper balance may cause the A/C to stop working and harm the compressor. If you are replacing several A/C parts, follow the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know the oil amount you should use. Replacing the O-ring seals and gaskets is required when opening a refrigerant line to keep it from leaking. Position the A/C suction line first into the engine area and after that, pull out all tape and plugs from the suction line fittings and the A/C compressor and A/C expansion valve. Coat both a new O-ring and a dual-plane seal with refrigerant oil designed for the R-134a refrigerant system. Place the A/C suction line onto the A/C compressor and hold it in place with nut 1 which you should tighten with 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) of torque. Then, link the A/C suction line to the A/C expansion valve and hold it in place with nut 7, tigthening to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). After that, reinstall the air intake tube and resonator, reconnect the negative battery cable and empty the receiver dryer. Lastly, measure the refrigerant oil and add any more when necessary and then charge the system with refrigerant as needed.
