2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Accumulator on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before fitting the A/C accumulator, set the refrigerant oil correctly to help avoid failures and protect the A/C compressor. If your AC system's compressor needs replacing, change the A/C accumulator at the same time. For any job involving the replacement of several A/C components, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to see the right amount of oil to use. Should you only change the A/C accumulator, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil. Never forget to put new refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets in place after opening a line to avoid leakage. Set the A/C accumulator in the engine compartment, take off any covers or plugs from its fitting and also remove them from the A/C condenser and coat the new dual-plane seal with refrigerant oil before you put it on the accumulator connector. Screw on the A/C accumulator to the right end of the condenser and tighten the nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Install the A/C accumulator on the front radiator support, securing it with a screw held tight to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Add lubricant to another dual-plane seal, install it on the liquid line and tighten a nut so that it reaches 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) to the A/C accumulator. Put the air cleaner housing and air intake tube back and finally the grille. Attach the negative cable to the existing battery again, remove the refrigerant and if needing a new A/C accumulator, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil before charging the system. Ensure you charge the refrigerant supply when it becomes necessary.
