2009 Dodge Dakota A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the A/C Condenser to Prevent System Malfunction and Compressor Damage on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: Refrigerant oil must be adjusted properly during A/C servicing to ensure the system functions well and avoid damages to the compressor. If your mechanic tells you that the A/C condenser is the only unit to replace, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil to the system. You should patch the O-ring seals and gaskets in the refrigerant line whenever you take it apart, to avoid leaks. First, move the radiator further back and gently slide the A/C condenser into the engine area. Place the A/C condenser against the top of the radiator and attach it by tightening four bolts to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.). After that, put the power steering cooler on the A/C condenser and screw it in place tightly. Connect the A/C discharge and liquid lines to the A/C condenser and be sure the cable for the hood latch is placed correctly. Install the support for the upper radiator and connect the negative battery cable again. Remove the refrigerant and replace with 30 milliliters of oil when swapping out the condensers, but check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for the right amount if you're replacing several components. After that, put refrigerant into the refrigeration system.
