2009 Dodge Nitro A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Install an A/C Hose in a 3.7L Engine for Discharge Line on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: The A/C refrigerant system must have the oil adjusted properly while servicing or compressor damage and A/C system failures may occur. When you change several A/C components, consult the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know what oil is needed for the system. It is important to change the O-ring seals and gaskets anytime you remove a refrigerant line, to stop leaks. Make sure to take out all tape and plugs from the fittings on the discharge lines, the compressor and the condenser. Apply a small amount of clean oils designed for the R-134a system to each new rubber O-ring seal and install them together with new gaskets onto the discharge line fittings, using only the specified O-rings provided for R-134a. To allow clearance for the hoses, put the A/C condenser on the left side and after that, attach the A/C line to the A/C condenser and tighten the retaining nut by hand. Install the A/C condenser on the right side of the radiator and fix it there with a bolt that must be tightened to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Tighten the bolt that attaches the A/C discharge line to the condenser to 22.5 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Fit the grille, attach the A/C discharge line to the compressor and secure it with a tightened nut of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) level. Screw in the housing for the air cleaner and put the negative battery cable back on. Take out the refrigerant, set the refrigerant oil level properly and supply the refrigerant charge as it is required.
