• Q: How to install a Heater Core on 2009 Dodge Nitro?

  A: Before installing the heater core, verify that the heater core tubes remain undamaged and have not been moved, loosened or removed to avoid spilling hot or coolant fluids and being hurt. Should the foam surrounding the heater core be damaged, replacement is needed. Secure the heater core (2) on the passenger side of the air distribution housing (3) and then click the four plastic retainer tabs (1). Place the heater core tube flange (4) so it fits the heater core tubes (6) and on the right side of the air distribution housing (8). Then, engage the plastic retainer (5) around the heater core tubes completely. Secure the heater core tube flange to the air distribution housing with screw (2) and tighten it to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). Then, link the upper front passenger side floor duct (7) to the air distribution housing with two retaining screws (1) which should be tightened to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). A damaged foam seal for the heater core tube flange has to be changed and then the foam seal (3) can be installed. Afterward, mount the air distributor on the HVAC housing and if replacing the heater core, make sure you rinse the cooling system before putting the assembly back in place.
