• Q: How to Service an A/C Expansion Valve on 2009 Dodge Nitro?

  A: Before servicing the A/C expansion valve, recover the refrigerant from the entire refrigerant system. Take off the negative battery cable and keep it separate from the rest. Take out the nut on the A/C suction and liquid lines that connect them to the expansion valve. Take off the suction and liquid lines from the AC expansion valve, remove the seals inside and place the lines aside. Remove the two bolts holding the A/C expansion valve to the evaporator tube tapping block. Remove the A/C expansion valve from the tap in the evaporator tube and toss the O-ring seals. After everything is hooked up, put plugs in or secure tape over the openings of the refrigerant line and the evaporator tube fittings, as well as over all the expansion valve ports.
