2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on 2009 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before you service the turn signal switch, unplug the battery negative cable, discharge the system capacitor by waiting for two minutes and turn off the SRS to avoid the air bag being accidentally deployed. Take out the screw that is attached to the tilt steering column knob and separate it from the tilt actuator located on the left side of the column. Then, below the steering column, get rid of the two outside screws supporting the perimeter of the middle column shroud. Finger pressure applied inside the upper shroud on either side above the lower shroud line unsnaps it; after that, you can remove the upper shroud. Pull out the center screw that fixes the lower shroud to the steering column and then take off the lower shroud. Take out the wire harness connector from the back of the multi-function switch housing. Turn the steering wheel to get hold of and unscrew the two screws keeping the multi-function switch secure on its housing. Next, take hold of the switch control stalk and pull it to the left so that the switch comes out of the vehicle's mounting housing.
