2009 Dodge Viper Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Power Steering Hose from the Gear to the Cooler on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: Before fitting the return hose from the gear to the cooler, replace any worn O-rings, clean the fittings along both ends of the hose and all open ports and put a small amount of clean power steering fluid on all the O-rings. Place the hose into the engine compartment by following the order it was taken out. On the intake side of the system, if the quick-connect tube nut is on the hose, put it into the fluid cooler port and tighten it 15 Nm (130 in. lbs.). Should the tube nut already be screwed into the fluid cooler, take the hose off and press the end of the hose into the quick-connect tube nut until it secures itself. After that, fix the belly pan at the front, push down the vehicle following the procedure, position the radiator cooling module and screw them all in with 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque. Place the power steering pressure hose into the steering gear fluid port, tighten its nut to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) and then mount the air cleaner and attach the battery negative cable to the battery. After that, add power steering fluid and bleed the system before looking for any leaks.
