2009 Jeep Commander Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor in the B-Pillar on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: To service the side impact sensor in the B-pillar, first cut the negative battery cable and let the system capacitor clear for around two minutes to prevent injury when SRS is disconnected. Don't touch or hurt the side impact sensor, because if it gets damaged, it must be changed; dropping it will cause the sensor to stop working. Both the side and front impact sensors can replace one another. Push the front seats as close as possible to make reaching for the B-pillar trim easier. The inside trim from the lower right or left B-pillar should be removed. Remove the body wire harness connector from the side impact sensor connector receptacle. Pull out the screw holding the sensor to the bottom A-pillar and remove the impact sensor from that side of the B-pillar.
