2009 Jeep Commander Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Evaporator in the Rear A/C and Maintain Correct Refrigerant Oil Levels on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Before putting in the rear evaporator, carefully balance the refrigerant oil level to stop A/C problems and protect the compressor. For an A/C evaporator replacement only at the rear, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended refrigerant oil to the system. If you replace several A/C components, check the chart to get the correct amount of oil to use. Anytime you open a refrigerant line, remember to replace the O-ring seals and gaskets to stop refrigerant leaks. Position the back A/C evaporator into the center of the rear HVAC housing. Soak new rubber O-ring seals in refrigerant oil and put them on the fittings on the evaporator tube, selecting only the proper O-rings for this system. After making the HVAC housing for the back, put it in place as indicated. Whenever replacing the rear A/C evaporator, use only the refrigerant oil type recommended for your A/C compressor and add the recommended amount of oil.
