2009 Jeep Commander Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: To work on the air door actuator/motor, first position it into the car and install it on the vehicle's left HVAC air distribution housing. In some cases, you will need to rotate the actuator a bit to bring the splines on its output shaft in line with the mode door cam. Screw the mode door actuator to the air distribution box holding it firmly. Connect the HVAC wire harness connector to the actuator and tighten it to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). When assembling a LHD model, place the instrument panel silencer on the left driver side, but when assembling an RHD, install the glove box into the instrument panel. Attach the negative battery cable once more and then use a scan tool to activate the Actuator Calibration function. For the next step, place the mode door actuator into the vehicle and mount it to the back of the HVAC air distribution housing, making sure the splines on the actuator's shaft match the pivot shaft of the console air door. Fit the actuator using two screws, 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) each and link the wire harness connector to the actuator. Connect the instrument panel, attach the negative battery cable and trigger the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool.
