2009 Jeep Commander Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Heater Core in the Front on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Set the heater core (8) into place inside the HVAC air distribution housing (2) on the passenger side and take away any plugs or tape from the ports in the heater core. If the heater core tubes were removed, put them in place in the car and grease new rubber O-ring seals with clean engine coolant before attaching them. Use only the rubber O-ring made of the prescribed material for the engine cooling system. Link the heater core tubes to the heater core and attach them with bolt (7), tightening it properly. Attach screw (3) to heater core tube retaining bracket (5) while fixing it to the HVAC housing (6), giving it a tightness of 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). If there are two climate areas, put the blend door actuator (1) on the passenger air distribution housing. After that, place the heater core and tube cover (2) in the HVAC housing (3) and hold them in place by using five screws (1). Then, tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Replace the instrument panel, join the removed heater hoses to the heater core tubes in the engine area and link the negative battery cable. If you replace the heater core, you should flush the cooling system and put in the proper amount of coolant.
