  A: Installing the pulley and bearing assembly first onto the front of the A/C compressor, then tapping it gently with a block of wood if you need to. The snap ring should fit tightly in the groove so the clutch doesn't wear or the A/C compressor is not harmed and install it with the bevel side up. Make sure the pulley and bearing assembly stays attached to the A/C compressor and are fastened by securing the snap ring with A/C Snap Ring Pliers 9764. If you replace only the clutch plate, pulley and bearing assembly, redo the previous shim layer. Otherwise, use two trial shims that are 1.50 mm each. After that, fit the clutch plate to the front of the compressor and bolt it on using the compressor shaft, turning it until it reaches 20 Nm. Look closely at the air gap in a number of locations after tightening; if required, shim the body to set the gap at 0.30 - 0.60 mm. Carefully lead the compressor clutch coil wire through the firewall and hold the bracket and screw in place as you screw it onto the A/C compressor with 4.3 Nm of torque. Couple the engine wire harness to the compressor clutch field coil connector, put the accessory drive belt in place, attach the radiator and fan shroud assembly and set up the coolant recovery container. After that, secure the negative cable to the car battery once again.
