Start the installation of driver air bag by detaching the negative cable (or switching off the car), so the Supplemental Restraint System is disabled for two minutes. No foreign material should go into the air bag or be positioned between the air bag cushion and the trim cover, as such items could hurt occupants as the driver air bag deploys. Do not paint the driver air bag trim cover, because paint might change the material's reaction when it deploys. When the air bag system is ineffective or damaged, but not deployed, deal with it in the same manner as you would a non-deployed supplemental restraint.
