How to Install a New Passenger Air Bag on Jeep Wrangler?

First, turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by isolating the battery negative cable, waiting for two minutes and then perform the installation. Check that there is no foreign object inside the passenger air bag or caught between the air bag and the door and do not paint the door while avoiding dangerous vehicles during deployment. Put the passenger air bag and air bag door together in the open space of the instrument panel base trim. Check that both voltmeter and main connector insulators are fitted to their matching locations on the air bag inflator connector receptacle. Move the air bag forward correctly so that the upper bracket is fitted under the windshield nut and the lower studs are in the instrument panel armature holes. Secure each of the low nodes in the armature with a nut fastened to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). Quickly push down and forward on the air bag door until all of the snap features are securely fitted into the base trim. Put the grab handle and glove box back into the instrument panel. Through the top access hole in the instrument panel, tighten the nut attaching the upper bracket to the stud by the windshield fence to 6 Nm (55 in.lbs.). After that, fit the trim plug back into its hole. Do not attach the battery negative cable until you have done the SRS verification test after any service on an SRS part.

How to Safely Remove and Replace a Passenger Air Bag on Jeep Wrangler?

First detach and isolate the negative cable from the vehicle's battery and then wait two minutes for the capacitor to empty. It is advisable to cover your hands, eyes and body, as the inside of air bags may contain irritating materials. Pull the trim plug out of the slot in the top of the dash area between the windshield and the forward passenger air bag door. From the access hole, release the nut that holds the passenger air bag upper bracket to the stud next to the windshield fence line. After that, take off the handle on top of the glove box door and the glove box too. You will find the two nuts fixing the passenger air bag lower studs to the instrument panel armature in the glove box opening. Push the trim stick or similar device from below, between the rear of the passenger air bag door and the instrument panel, to separate the snap features. Push up the bottom of the passenger air bag door, then pull the air bag toward you to get to the two wires on the air bag inflators. Make sure the wires are disconnected from the air bag inflators by pulling the lock from the connector insulator and then pulling the insulators right out from the inflators. Remove the whole unit consisting of the passenger air bag and air bag door from the instrument panel.

Q: How to Install a New Passenger Air Bag on Jeep Wrangler?
A:
First, turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by isolating the battery negative cable, waiting for two minutes and then perform the installation. Check that there is no foreign object inside the passenger air bag or caught between the air bag and the door and do not paint the door while avoiding dangerous vehicles during deployment. Put the passenger air bag and air bag door together in the open space of the instrument panel base trim. Check that both voltmeter and main connector insulators are fitted to their matching locations on the air bag inflator connector receptacle. Move the air bag forward correctly so that the upper bracket is fitted under the windshield nut and the lower studs are in the instrument panel armature holes. Secure each of the low nodes in the armature with a nut fastened to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). Quickly push down and forward on the air bag door until all of the snap features are securely fitted into the base trim. Put the grab handle and Glove Box back into the instrument panel. Through the top access hole in the instrument panel, tighten the nut attaching the upper bracket to the stud by the windshield fence to 6 Nm (55 in.lbs.). After that, fit the trim plug back into its hole. Do not attach the battery negative cable until you have done the SRS verification test after any service on an SRS part.

Q: How to Safely Remove and Replace a Passenger Air Bag on Jeep Wrangler?
A:
First detach and isolate the negative cable from the vehicle's battery and then wait two minutes for the capacitor to empty. It is advisable to cover your hands, eyes and body, as the inside of air bags may contain irritating materials. Pull the trim plug out of the slot in the top of the dash area between the Windshield and the forward passenger air bag door. From the access hole, release the nut that holds the passenger air bag upper bracket to the stud next to the windshield fence line. After that, take off the handle on top of the Glove Box door and the glove box too. You will find the two nuts fixing the passenger air bag lower studs to the instrument panel armature in the glove box opening. Push the trim stick or similar device from below, between the rear of the passenger air bag door and the instrument panel, to separate the snap features. Push up the bottom of the passenger air bag door, then pull the air bag toward you to get to the two wires on the air bag inflators. Make sure the wires are disconnected from the air bag inflators by pulling the lock from the connector insulator and then pulling the insulators right out from the inflators. Remove the whole unit consisting of the passenger air bag and air bag door from the instrument panel.
