2010 Jeep Liberty A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are the Best Practices for Installing an A/C Condenser to Maximize Performance and Avoid Malfunctions on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: If you do not adjust the refrigerant oil level when installing the A/C condenser, there's a risk the A/C system could fail and the compressor could suffer damage. Replace the air seals in the radiator/condenser for best operating efficiency. If you are replacing several A/C components, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for help with oil amount. When you're refilling an A/C condenser by yourself, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended oil. Make sure to replace both the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets whenever you disconnect refrigerant lines to ensure there will be no leaks. Start by taking out any tape or plugs from the ports on the refrigerant line fittings and the receiver/drier and the condenser. Rub the new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and fit them on the refrigerant line fittings, together with a new gasket, using only the O-rings recommended for use with R-134a. If you removed the A/C receiver/drier, place it on the A/C condenser. Place the A/C condenser in the engine compartment and attach it to the mounting brackets by tightening two bolts to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Join the A/C discharge line with the condenser and turn the retaining nut to 22.5 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Replace the seal on the right side condenser and, if the car needs a transmission cooler, connect the lines to the A/C condenser. Put on the grille, link the A/C liquid line with the condenser tube and tighten it with the secondary retaining clip. Wall-mount the engine air cleaner housing and rejoin the negative battery cable. Empty the refrigerant from the system and, if replacing the condenser, top up with 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil or seek the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for many replacement parts. Last, add the refrigerant liquid to the system.
