Through controlling this flow, A/C Expansion Valve plays its part in enhancing or rather contributing to the effectiveness/favorable performance of the climate control system of the vehicle. In the Chrysler 300 models, different types of A/C Expansion Valves have been used from the past years depending on the operation they have been programmed to offer. These kinds of valves might differ by their functioning and shape and may affect the quality of the refrigerant flow rates. Specifically, the A/C Expansion Valve plays an important role in the adequate regulation of temperature and comfort level inside the Chrysler 300 thereby making it an important component in the A/C system of the Chrysler 300.

Chrysler 300 A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is an A/C Expansion Valve Installed in a Cooling System on Chrysler 300?
    A:
Be sure to adjust the refrigerant oil amount first before you install the expansion valve. If you are replacing multiple A/C components, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know how much oil to use. Change the O-ring seals and gaskets on a refrigerant line whenever it is taken apart to ensure seals are tight. Start by taking out the tape or plugs from all the evaporator tube fittings and expansion valve ports. Place the new dual plane seal onto the evaporator's tube fittings, lubricated with recommended A/C compressor refrigerant oil and using only the seal designed for R-134a systems. Then, install the A/C expansion valve (2) onto the hole in the foam seal (3) where the evaporator tube tapping block is and connect it with two bolts (1), applying 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.) of torque to each. Take away any tape or plugs on the suction and liquid line fittings, oil the new dual plane seals and fit these seals to the fittings. Hook the suction line of the A/C (7) to the A/C expansion valve (1) and the liquid line (8) to the same valve. After that, install the nut (9) that secures the refrigerant line tapping block (10) to the valve and tighten it to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Put the bolt (5) in place to hold the refrigerant line mounting bracket (6) and tighten it to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.) on the left front shock tower (4). Join the free end of the wire harness to the A/C pressure transducer and then put on the negative Battery Cable. Next, withdraw the refrigerant from the system, measure and about and fill the refrigerant.
