Chrysler 300 Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Blend Door Actuator in Single and Dual Zone HVAC Systems on Chrysler 300?
    A:
The single zone system uses only one blend door actuator, while the dual zone one has two, each for the driver and passenger sides of the car. Gently set the blend door actuator into place in the vehicle and secure it at the driver side end of the HVAC air distribution housing. Adjust the angle of the actuator very slightly to fit the splines on the actuator shaft to those on the blend door cam. Place the two screws into the air distribution housing to attach the blend door actuator, fastening them to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Link the HVAC wire harness connector to the blend door actuator, mount the instrument panel silencer when it is fitted, recover the negative Battery Cable and use a scan tool to initiate the Actuator Calibration function. On the passenger side, attach the blend door actuator into the car and fix it onto the housing's passenger side, making sure to keep the splines in place. Fasten the blend door actuator onto the air distribution housing, check the tightness at 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), fit the HVAC wire harness connector, secure the Glove Box onto the instrument panel, reattach the negative battery cable and launch Actuator Calibration in the scan tool.
  • Q: How to Service the Blend Door Actuator for Single and Dual Zone Driver Side Systems on Chrysler 300?
    A:
Both for the single zone air bags and dual zone air bags in the driver's side, disconnect the negative Battery Cable, give it two minutes, then prevent the air bags from deploying by disabling them. With the single zone, only one door actuator is needed because the blended air is sent to just one setting; the dual zone uses two separate door actuators, each for its own zone. Remove the driver's side instrument silencer at first, after that take off the three screws that hold the blend door actuator in the housing. Disconnect the actuator from its position in the housing and separate the HVAC electric connector. Secure the new actuator into its position in the vehicle so that the shaft coming from the actuator is aligned with the cam on the blend door. Secure the actuator with the screws and then tighten them to 2 N.m (17 in.lbs.). After that, reconnect the HVAC wire harness connector. Next, put the instrument panel silencer back in place and link the negative battery cable again.
