First, make sure the oil level in the compressor is just right before you install the A/C liquid line. If you're replacing several parts, use the chart in the Refrigerant Oil Capacity section for the amount of oil to use. It's important to replace both the seals and gaskets on a refrigerant line before using it to avoid leaks. The A/C liquid line is worked on in two areas, with the rear part joined and serviced together with the rear suction line section. For the front section, set it in the engine compartment, clear off any tape or plugs from the fittings, moisten a new dual plane seal with oil and attach it to the engine side of the liquid line. Bring the separate front section and rear section together, then attach and tighten nut 1 to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). With the vehicle raised, remove anything covering the front and condenser ports, apply sealer, install the new dual plane seal in the front hole and secure with nut 3, while tightening to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Place the front belly pan back onto the car, lower the entire vehicle, fit the air cleaner housing into place, fix the negative battery cable, empty the refrigerant system, fix the oil level, then fill it with fresh refrigerant. Connect the rear section of the liquid line and suction line as a unit, remove the tape or caps from the fittings and ports on the
A/C Expansion Valve, grease them and slide a dual plane seal on each. Next, hook the assembly to the expansion valve, fasten it with nut 11 using 23 Nm of torque (17 ft. lbs.). Secure the bracket for the refrigerant lines to the left front shock tower, using bolt 5 and tighten to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.) and link the wire harness to the A/C transducer pressure sensor. Take off the tape or plugs from where the front and rear sections of the A/C liquid line join, lubricate a new dual plane seal, connect the lines and secure with nut 6, tightening until it reaches 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Unplug or remove tape from the fittings connecting the A/C suction lines near the front and rear, apply grease, attach a new dual plane seal, then join and secure them, tightening nut 7 to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Afterward, put the air cleaner housing back in, link the negative battery cable once again, drain the refrigerant, add the right refrigerant oil and finish by charging the system.
