Before adding the A/C accumulator, it's important to carefully set the refrigerant oil to help the A/C function properly and save the compressor. In case the A/C compressor fails internally, remove and replace the A/C accumulator to save the new compressor. Check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to ensure you are using the correct amount of oil when replacing several A/C parts. If you just replace the A/C accumulator, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil to your system. Always change the O-ring seals or gaskets on a refrigerant line after opening it to avoid leaks. Put the A/C accumulator (5) in the engine compartment, uncover the A/C accumulator fitting and the
A/C Condenser (3) ports and make sure you oil the new dual-plane seal with clean refrigerant oil. Attach the A/C accumulator to the end of the A/C condenser and tighten bolt (4) so that it registers 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Fasten the vent to the condenser using screw (1), putting in the A/C accumulator mounting bracket (2) and tightening to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Place the front fascia back on the car, take the negative
Battery Cable off again, let out or evacuate all of the refrigerant and inject 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil if you're changing the A/C accumulator before charging the A/C.
