How to Replace and Maintain a Camshaft Seal on the Right Cylinder Head on Chrysler Pacifica?

Before servicing or repairing the camshaft oil seal of the right cylinder head, take off the negative battery cable first. Open the upper timing cover and set the camshaft gear and crankshaft gear timing marks to true top dead center. Second, pull out the timing belt and the right camshaft sprocket, remove the camshaft thrust plate from the cylinder head back, take off the cylinder head cover and undo the rocker arm assembly. Slide the camshaft slowly backward about 3.5 inches out of the cylinder head to avoid damaging the sealing surfaces there or on the camshaft. Use a suitable driver to remove the camshaft oil seal without any damage. Set the seal into the cylinder head for installation and strike it in place with special tool MD-998306. Apply a little clean engine oil to the lip of the camshaft oil seal and also to Special Tool 6788 Seal Protector Sleeve. Put the Special Tool 6788 Seal Protector Sleeve onto the camshaft, then move the camshaft forward so the protector passes through the seal into place. With Special Tool 6788 out, place the camshaft thrust plate at the rear end of the cylinder head and attach the camshaft sprocket and timing belt afterward.

How to Service and Repair a Camshaft Seal on Chrysler Sebring?

It is necessary to remove the timing belt first to access the camshaft oil seal. Use Special Tool 6847 to secure each camshaft sprocket as you remove the bolt in the middle. After that, remove the camshaft sprockets and take out the rear timing belt cover. Take out the camshaft seal with Special Tool C-4679-A, making sure you don't damage the seal or seal bore. Prior to fitting the seal, clean the shaft seal surface from varnish, dirt or scratches, using a piece of 400 grit paper if needed. Insert the camshaft seals into the cylinder head using Special Tool MD-998306 so that they sit exactly flush at the edge of the head. Replace the timing belt rear cover and camshaft sprockets, supporting each sprocket with Special Tool 6847. When tightening the center bolt, bring it up to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Afterward, fit the timing belt and the front covers on the motor.
