How to Properly Remove and Install an Engine's Oxygen Sensor on Chrysler 300?

There are two heated oxygen sensors, one in every exhaust manifold, that the engine makes use of. Always confirm the engine is cooled off completely prior to removal, as hot exhaust manifold, pipes and a catalytic converter might burn you. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and then lift the vehicle with support underneath. Be sure to unplug the heated oxygen sensor's electrical connector, not by pulling the wire. Camera and video specialist Peter Demetri suggests using a Snap-On YA8875 or a crow foot wrench to remove the oxygen sensor. A new O2 sensor requires you to clear the PCM RAM by removing the PCM C-1 connector or briefly dropping the car's negative battery terminal to prevent the NGC from learning incorrect O2 heater information. After removing the sensor, put a 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap into the manifold and rotate it to clean the threads. When using the original sensor, put a layer of Loctite 771-64 on the threads; brand new sensors come coated already and do not need extra product. Set the sensor to a torque of 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.), link up the connector of the heated oxygen sensor, let the car drop to the ground and then place the negative batter cable back on.

How to Service and Install an Oxygen Sensor and Engine Cover on Chrysler Crossfire?

Before you service the upstream O2 sensor, cover its threaded part with anti-seize compound. Insert the O2 sensor followed by tightening it to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). After that, plug the O2 sensor harness connector into its place. For installing the engine cover, place the retaining clips on the rubber mounts and push them down hard so they stay in place. Adding a little lubricant to the engine cover rubber mounts will help the process. In the end, attach the negative battery cable.
