Trailing arm in Chrysler Sebring actualizes a significant aspect of the trailing-link suspension system AGN, it assists the joining of the axle to the car framework. Its main purpose is to reduce unwanted motion of the axles and hence improving on the stability and control of the automobile. The Chrysler Sebring uses various kinds of Trailing Arm suspensions, the basic kind is the Trailing Arm Suspension that sometimes includes the employment of various links coupled with a Panhard rod to provide the required lateral stability and the other kind is the Semi-Trailing Arm Suspension, which comprises of a triangular shaped suspension bar that rotates on two axes to afford greater flexibility and freedom of movement. Of the Trailing Arm designs, those that are most advantageous for rear axles are especially well suited for freeing up space in the car's interior and increasing the size of its cargo compartment in the Chrysler Sebring. Since every Trailing Arm configuration would differ slightly with others, they play a critical role in determining the quality of the vehicle as well as comfort for the driver.

Chrysler Sebring Trailing Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Trailing Arm on Chrysler Sebring?
    A:
Start by steadying the car on ramps and undo the bolts on the wheel mounting nuts and the tire and wheel assembly to take it off. After that, take out the screw that holds the brake flex hose and tube bracket to the trailing link and unlace the brake tube from the routing clip on the trailing link. Should you have them, remove the routing clips holding the wheel speed sensor to the trailing link. Release the adapter from the mounting point by removing the two backing bolts, then take out the fully attached disc Brake Caliper and its adapter. Keep them hanging out of the way, but make sure the brake hose is not being forced, as this might damage the pipe. Once that's done, pull out the brake rotor or Brake Drum and then the hub and bearing as well. Release the Parking Brake Cable from the maneuvering lever on the brake shoe and remove the hair pin that holds the cable to the brake support plate. Take the brake support plate with the brake shoes off the end of the parking brake cable and pull the cable out of its connection to the trailing link. After that, take out the three bolts connecting the knuckle to the trailing link and the two attachment bolts on the leading end of the trailing link to the body and then remove the trailing link.
  • Q: How to install a Trailing Arm on Chrysler Sebring?
    A:
Start by placing the trailing link into position and installing the bolts fastening the leading side of the trailing link to the body with a tightening force of 110 Nm. Then, attach the trailing link to the knuckle using three bolts, tighten each to 60 Nm. Take the Parking Brake Cable across to the inboard (closest to chassis) side of the trailing arm and slide it into the parking brake support plate. Bind the parking brake cable at the brake support plate using a hair pin and join it to the lever on the Parking Brake Shoe. First, set in the hub and bearing, then add the brake rotor or Brake Drum over them. If there are rear disc brakes, position the disc Brake Caliper and adapter assembly over the brake rotor and brake support plate, install the two bolts holding the assembly to the plate and tighten each one to 105 Nm. If you have routing clips, secure the wheel speed sensor to the trailing link with them and mount the brake tube on the routing clip on the same link. At the trailing link bracket, insert the brake flex hose and bracket for the tube and make sure to tighten the mounting screw to 23 Nm. Place the tire and wheel assembly on the wheel bolts and tighten them to 135 Nm after you've lowered the car to its proper position.
