First disable your car's supplemental restraint system by withdrawing the battery negative cable and then wait a couple of minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Be sure not to hit or drop the Occupant Restraint Controller, since it includes the impact sensor that allows supplemental restraints to work; should you drop it, the unit should be scrapped and changed out. If your vehicle uses the Occupant Classification System, replace only one of the two modules at a time, as placing faults into both modules makes the error permanent. To start, remove the negative cable from your battery and take out the center console from the floor panel transmission tunnel. To unplug the body wire harnesses, squeeze the release tab and then lift the arm. Take away the three screws that are welded onto the floor panel transmission tunnel, then remove the ORC. When installing, put the ORC onto the ORC bracket, making certain the arrow on the label points forward and the locating pin enters the mounting bracket. Screw the ORC in place with three screws and set the tightness to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Before reconnecting the wire harness plugs to the ORC, push the latches in to disengage the arms and confirm they are all the way in. Install the center console and do not hook back the negative cable from the battery until after the SRS verification is checked after any SRS work.
