First, disconnect and set aside the battery's negative terminal before starting to service the windshield washer switch. For cars with
Air Bags, do what you must to make sure they are not forced to deploy by accident. Should the tilt steering column lever be used, separate it first and then working your way down, detach the upper shroud and the lower shroud from the column. Move the shroud covering the upper fixed column aside to get to the switch and remove the mounting screws with a Snap On torx bit of type TTXR2OB2 or a similar screwdriver. Pull the switch toward the instrument cluster and remove the screw on the multi-function wire harness connector. After that, gently unplug the connector from the multi-function switch. Unscrew the harness screw on the multi-function switch by 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) and fasten the mounting screws of the multi-function switch by the same amount (2 Nm/17 in. lbs.). Unhook and separate the battery negative cable for the rear and then take out the lower part of the instrument panel bezel. After that, undo the two screws holding the rear window switch pod to the lower bezel of the instrument panel and take out the pod. Turn the steps of removal around and use a torque wrench to tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.).
