- Q: How to Service an EGR Tube on Dodge Charger?A:Before servicing the EGR tube, remove the negative battery cable first. After that, remove the purge solenoid from its bracket and position it elsewhere. Release and remove the electrical connector at the EGR valve and then take out the bolts holding the lower tube onto the exhaust manifold. Go ahead and remove the three bolts holding the lower tube to the EGR valve and pull out the lower tube from your vehicle. Check that the gasket surfaces on the EGR valve are clean so that any dirt is cleared, as this stops it from getting between the pintle and seat, possibly leading to valve leaks, an uneven idle and a drop in vacuum in the manifold. In the end, clean where the mounting hardware will be attached.
- Q: How to Service and Repair an EGR Tube on Dodge Ram 1500?A:Service and repair of an EGR tube on a pick-up start by scrubbing each end and the connecting points to get rid of any old gasket material. After that, add new gaskets (doughnuts) with part numbers 2 and 5, one at each end of the tube. Attach the EGR crossover tube using part number 4 to the engine and loosely put in bolt number 3 at the center of the tube. After hand tightening of part number 1, apply a torque of 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.) for clamps 1 and 6. After that, screw on clamp bolt number 3 until the torque reaches 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.). Tighten the clamps, put on cover 1 and its four cover bolts with part 2 and slide in heat shield number 2 over EGR valve number 1. Simultaneously attach the negative ends of both cables to both batteries.
