Direct the upper coupling of the intermediate shaft into the plastic fin on the steering column shaft and slidingly place the intermediate shaft onto the column shaft. Slide in a new steering intermediate shaft pinch bolt and fasten it tightly so the torque is 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). Afterward, install both of the intermediate shaft dash seal mounting nuts and tighten them to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.). Newly installed coupling. Attach the pin to the intermediate shaft and slip it into the lower coupling while you hold both shafts. Put a new steering coupling pinch bolt into the intermediate shaft and tighten it to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).
