- Q: How to Maintain an Antenna for Keyless Start Systems on Dodge Nitro?A:The first step in servicing the Keyless Start Antenna is to remove the negative Battery Cable and after this waiting two minutes, the air bag capacitor should be discharged. You should first remove the battery negative cable when beginning. After that, pull out the right multi-function switch from the built-in mount on the Clock Spring, while still keeping the wire connected, so you can get to the Skreem's mounting screw nearby. Remove the instrument panel wiring connector from the Skreem connector location. Take out the screw that connects the Skreem antenna to the ignition lock cylinder housing, undo the Skreem antenna from the housing and lift the whole Skreem off the Steering Column. Take out the coaxial electrical cable connector from Skreem. When taking the Instrument Cluster out, take care to remember where the coaxial cable passes through during the remote start antenna removal. Remove the remote start antenna cable from its mounts and then take out the screws to remove the antenna module from the panel assembly.

Following that, install the Instrument Cluster and connect the remote start coaxial cable, as you did when removing it. If the coaxial cable comes with mounting clips, secure it there and connect the coaxial cable ending from the remote start antenna to the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (Skreem). Wind the antenna ring of the Skreem around the ignition lock cylinder, then use a 2 Nm screwdriver (20 in. lbs.) to attach the Skreem mounting bracket to the ignition lock housing. Attach the instrument panel wire to the Skreem connector, add the right multi-function switch back to its mounting bracket and tighten the negative battery cable. If a new Skreem is used, the diagnostic scan tool must be used to successfully initialize the model and enter data for at least two Sentry Key transponders. Vehicles with a Tpm system should use a diagnostic scan tool to put the Id number and location of the Skreem or spare tire pressure sensor into the Skreem after it has been replaced. You can use a Tpm-Rke Analyzer tool or see the Id number printed on the spare tire pressure sensor after taking off the spare tire from its wheel.
