Initially, you need to cut the connection from the negative terminal of the battery, as well as take off the accessory
Drive Belt before proceeding. Separate the engine wire harness from the top side of the
A/C Compressor, where the clutch field coil connector is and take out the bolts attaching the compressor to the engine. First, free the connector and wire leading to the compressor clutch field coil from the connector bracket, then remove the bolt on the compressor shaft using a wrench that holds the clutch plate from turning. Never open the gap between the clutch plate and the pulley to protect them. Very gently let go the clutch plate by tapping the clutch plate with a plastic mallet to its position on the compressor shaft, then remove the clutch plate and any shim(S). Use snap ring pliers to take out the snap ring holding the pulley and bearing assembly to the A/c compressor's front and after that, remove the assembly. After that, remove the snap ring that holds the compressor clutch field coil to the front of the A/c compressor and remove the field coil. For installation, place the dowel pin on the clutch field coil, behind the compressor, into the hole in the front of the A/c compressor. Insert a fresh snap ring to hold the compressor clutch field coil in place by applying it to the groove. Mount the pulley and the bearing into the pump housing, making sure not to damage the friction spots and fix them with a new snap ring. Replacing the complete clutch assembly. Use the original shim(S). Removing and replacing only the clutch plate. Install a stack of 2.54 mm shims. Put the clutch plate on the front side of the A/c compressor and turn the compressor shaft bolt to 19 Nm. Check that the air gap between the plate and pulley falls within 0.35 - 0.60 mm; add or remove shims as necessary. The compressor clutch field coil wire lead should be routed behind the connector bracket before installing the connector. First, line up the A/c compressor with the engine and bolt it down, after that connect the engine wire harness along with the drive belt and negative
Battery Cable. Like for all Visteon A/c compressors, you first remove the negative cable from the battery and then take off the accessory drive belt. After raising the vehicle, unplug the wire for the engine from the connector on the clutch field coil. With the bolts off, set the compressor aside while you service the clutch. Secure the compressor shaft in a clutch holding fixture and unscrew the bolt holding the clutch plate in place. If it won't come off easily, press it off using a bolt of dimension 8 x 1.25 mm. Remove the clutch plate and shim(S) and next, use special pliers to remove the snap ring holding the pulley and bearing assembly. Unlock the assembly from the engine by physically removing it or using a two jaw puller, then remove the plastic retaining clip and detach the screw that links the clutch field coil wire and its connector. To take out the clutch field coil, use a compressor field coil remover and one of the two jaw pullers. To install, make sure the A/c clutch field coil is positioned square on the front of the compressor and all the coil positioning tabs are correct as well as the wire harness lead. Place the positioning tabs in the recessed part of the clutch and use two jaw puller and installer tools to put in the clutch field coil. Keep the wire lead in place using the plastic retaining clip and screw and tighten the screw to 4 Nm. Set the pulley and bearing assembly in front of the A/c compressor and use an installer and hammer to secure it against the housing until it bottoms out. Make sure the snap ring is properly set before screwing it in place. Attach the clutch shims to the compressor shaft and then secure the clutch plate with a bolt, turning it to 15 Nm. Verify the air gap between the plate and the pulley and change the shims as practical. Lift the A/c compressor into position on the mounting bracket, fasten it with 23 Nm of torque, reattach the engine wire harness, lift the car, attach the accessory drive belt, reconnect the ground cable at the battery and carry out the Clutch Break-in Procedure.
