Dodge Ram 1500 Van Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How can the rear blower motor be serviced without removing the rear heater-A/C unit on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
If the optional rear heater-A/C is fitted, the rear blower motor can be serviced without needing to remove the whole unit from the car. You should begin by disconnecting the battery negative cable, then remove the heater-A/C unit's rear cover and both vertical and horizontal ducts before removing the upper housing. After that, unscrew the three bolts on the blower motor mount and pull the assembly out. You must remove the retainer clip connected to the hub before taking out the wheel from the shaft of the blower motor. When mounting the blower, fit the hub flat on the blower motor shaft and be sure the ears on the retainer clip are correctly aligned, then clip the retainer onto the hub. Place the seal and isolator onto the blower motor plate and then line the blower motor and isolator up with the mountain bosses on the upper housing, pressing each isolator down. Replace the blower motor mounting plate with the three screws tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) before you position the upper housing, horizontal duct, vertical duct and heater-A/C cover securely. When you finish, link the negative battery cable back to its proper receiver.
  • Q: How to service the front blower motor on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
Take apart the radiator fan shrouds, making sure you remove the front half before you adjust the blower motor. Unscrew the blower wire harness and remove the tube from the cooling nipple on the blower housing cover. Unscrew the three bolts holding the blower motor mounting plate in place on the blower housing cover and get rid of the blower motor assembly. Air conditioning systems require you to twist the suction and discharge hoses to remove the blower motor assembly from the engine space. Start by taking off the retainer clip from the hub, then slide the blower motor wheel off the shaft. Press the blower wheel hub onto your blower motor shaft so that its edge aligns properly with the shaft's rim. Attach the retainer clip onto the blower wheel hub so its ears are in line with the flats on the shaft and on the hub. At the start of installation, use a thin bead of RTV sealant on the blower motor end of the rubber seal and isolator unit and this will secure it to the blower mounting plate. Fit the seal with the isolator unit and motor onto the blower mounting plate and afterwards force the isolators down onto the three bosses on the blower housing cover, ensuring the motor is centered. Tighten the three mounting screws into the blower housing cover and lower it to place the blower motor mounting plate securely. Put the blower motor cooling tube back on the nipple in the blower housing cover, hook up the blower motor wire harness connector, install the upper radiator fan shroud and finally attach the negative battery cable.
