Without removing the rear unit from the car, the rear expansion valve can be maintained on models that have the rear heater-A/C option. The first step is to secure and take out the negative cable of your battery, then remove the refrigerant from the system. After that, remove the cover from the rear heater-A/C unit and take the screw out of the adapter plate that holds the liquid and suction lines to the expansion valve. Divide the connections to the expansion valve, taping or plugging all exposed lines. Remove the expansion valve from the rear heater-A/C unit after removing the two screws from the bracket of the coil evaporator tube. Plug or tape over the provided line fittings before you remove the expansion valve. To install, first take off the tape or plugs from the evaporator tube bracket and the expansion valve, then fit the expansion valve onto the bracket and attach it with two screws, tightened to 11.4 Nm (100 in. lbs.). Following this, pull the tape or plugs from the rear AC-heater condensation and liquid lines and the expansion valve, place them onto the expansion valve and secure the connection using the adaptation plate and a screw, set to 22 Nm (220 in. lbs.). Cover the rear heater-A/C unit, hook back onto the battery negative terminal, release the refrigerant, then charge the system.
