An unlike other vehicle systems, the fuel pressure does not drop when the engine is off, so always remember to release it before inspecting the fuel rail. The whole unit of left and right rails should be changed at once and the two halves must not be separated at the connector tube, since they rely on contact for pressure and should not have any clamps. Do not bend or pinch the tube before removing the fuel rail assembly. Begin with removing the fuel tank filler tube cap and then perform the needed fuel system pressure release action. Cut off the negative battery wire from the battery, take out the flex tube from the engine to the air cleaner housing and take away the air resonator box from the
Throttle Body. Remove the electrical connectors from all eight
Fuel Injectors by holding the red slider back and pushing down the tab with your finger. The wiring harness in the factory fuel injection is tagged to tell which injectors are in which positions. After that, unplug the electrical connections from the throttle body sensors and remove the quick connect fitting for the fuel tube from the fuel rail. Unscrew the front and rear rail mounting bolts and the two holddown clamps. Gently shake and piston the left side of the fuel rail which should start clearing out the holes in the
Intake Manifold and do the same on the right, once you finish. Keep repeating until the holes in the intake manifold are cleaned by all the injectors, after which you should remove the fuel rail with the fitted injectors from the engine. In case the fuel injectors must be removed, refer to the instructions in the manual.
