  To get the crankshaft out, begin by removing the engine, then the timing case and end covers, then the Pistons and always remember that the crankshaft bearing caps have numbers that start at the front and should all be numbered the same during installation. Check for wear and stretching in the crankshaft bearing caps and their bolts before you remove the crankshaft. So that the installation is in place, oil the bearing shells, place the crankshaft with its thrust collar inside, line up the grooves in the thrust washers to the crankshaft and ensure that the two retainers are tightly attached to the thrust washers so they do not rotate with the crankshaft's bearing. Apply a light amount of oil to the threads and head contact surfaces where the bolts are threaded through the bearing caps and start tightening them inside-out at the starter bearing. Crankshaft and bearing cap installation should be done, following two bolting stages: initially up to 55Nm (40.5 ft. lbs.) and afterwards 90° further. Put the pistons, end cover and timing case cover back in place and then set the engine onto them.
