To start replacing the antenna body and cable, remove the air bag system's negative battery cable, wait two minutes to allow it to discharge, then attach the antenna. First, take out the scuff plate at the front right door sill and the trim panel at the right inner cowl side. Grab the connector under the passenger side of the instrument panel on the right side inner panel and twist it apart without pulling on the coaxial cable. You should then take out the bottom part of the inner liner on the right front fender wheel house and reach the antenna lead grommet from the rear of the opening in that fender. Take out the coaxial antenna line and connector from the car through the hole on the right cowl side outer side panel, into the right front fender wheel house. Raise the antenna mast, remove the shroud from the antenna cap nut with your fingers and then use the Special Tool C-4816 to take out the cap nut. Take off the antenna plate from the antenna base above the right front fender and lift the base from its hole in the top of the front fender. Remove both the antenna base and its lead cable through the opening in the rear of the right front fender wheel house opening. For assembly, slide the antenna assembly into place in the opening beneath the far right front wheel and push the base into the connecting spot in the fender. Put the antenna escutcheon on the antenna base, after which you install the antenna base cap nut and tighten it to 6.8 Nm (60 in. lbs.) using the antenna nut wrench (Special Tool C-4816). After that, fit the plastic shroud over the antenna base cap nut and tighten the antenna mast to the antenna base at 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.). Push the antenna lead coaxial cable and its connector from the rear of the right fender until it is seated firmly through the hole in the right cowl side outer panel, then set the grommet inside that hole. Slide the lower section of the inner liner down into the left wheel house, plug in the antenna coaxial connectors and fit the trim panel onto the inner cowl and the scuff plate onto the front door sill. At the end, attach the battery negative cable once more.
