Having a crash warrants treating the air bag system with caution. An air bag module's inflator should be kept a safe distance from sources of electricity on the back of the car. Point the trim cover or air bag side away from you when you transport a non-deployed air bag module, to avoid injury if it accidentally deploys. Set the trim cover or air bag side on top of the surface to ensure it's less likely to move about. The air bag system must always be turned off when working on the
Steering Wheel, steering column or instrument panel so that deployment doesn't take place unexpectedly. All Non-deployed Air Bag Modules found in vehicles must be returned and return instructions and disposal can be found in the Chrysler Warranty Policies and Procedures. After air bag deployment, both air bag modules and both their doors, as well as the
Clock Spring, must be replaced, as the air bags can no longer be safely used. Closely look at all other parts and change them only as required upon noticing clear damage. The air bag module should be stored in its original packaging in an area free from heat, sparks and electricity, dry and tidy and should always rest with the trim cover or air bag side on the top to prevent movement if the air bag deploys.
