This engine has only one ignition coil assembly with 3 separate coils which should be swapped out all at once as one unit. On standard coils, the six rubber boots enclose the spark plugs to provide a seal with springs inside for conducting electricity. You should remove the negative battery cable before removing the coil. After that, loosen and remove the four bolts connecting the coil to the cylinder head. Begin loosening the coil assembly from the ends of the spark plugs, alternating each time and if this doesn't help, use a spark plug boot removal tool to release the boots. With the coil off, push out the slide tab, disconnect the primary connector and then pull it away after you let go of the secondary lock. You should then hook up the engine harness to the removed coil and snap the slide tab to secure it. With the boots over the spark plugs, push the coil assembly onto the cylinder head until fingers keep it in place. Fit the mounting bolts in place, tightening them just a little bit first and later torque each bolt to 29 Nm (250 in. lbs.), working in sequence to ensure none are damaged by early full torque. Lastly, attach the negative battery cable again.
