Recalibrated and factory-assemble front
Seat Cushion Occupant Detection Sensor (ODS) replacement parts should only be used to service the passenger side front seat cushion when replacing its ODS components. Delete all prior installation folders first, then replace them all with the components from the new package without using any of them separately. When any original industry-installed piece except the ODS is swapped, the ODS must be recalibrated using a diagnostic scan tool, the Occupant Classification Seat Weight kit and the Occupant Classification System Verification Test.
Air Bags and related systems may become active in an accident, so make certain to disconnect the negative battery cable and stop use of the vehicle until at least two minutes have passed before working near these systems. Only the ODS and the seat cushion trim can be looked at or replaced by themselves; the rest have to be replaced together. The DaimlerChrysler Mopar(R) Parts Catalog are the only parts allowed to be used and no change should be made to the front passenger seat assembly or center floor console. You should not update both the
Air Bag Control Module (ACM) and ODS during the same procedure, as it will fix an unchangeable fault in both. First, unhook and isolate the negative battery cable, wait two minutes until the system capacitor is empty, remove the passenger front seat from the car, take out the assembly beneath it, remove the cover, remove the entire seat's frame, springs, pad, bladder, pressure sensor, foam, wiring and ODS and then replace them with everything in the official service replacement package.
